Aberystwyth University’s Employability e-Hub, launched in December 2023, won the AGCAS Building Effective Partnerships Award for enhancing student employability. Recognized for its innovative digital platform and collaborative efforts, the e-Hub supports underrepresented students, boosting job prospects and confidence.

Launched in December 2023, the e-Hub has quickly become a vital resource, attracting over 2 million views on social media and more than 100,000 clicks from its target audience.

At the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services Annual Conference (AGCAS), the e-Hub won the Building Effective Partnerships Award. Judges lauded the initiative as “impressive,” highlighting its transformative impact on student employability. The platform, developed by the University’s Careers Service in collaboration with other Welsh universities and the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW), focuses on building students’ confidence and guiding them towards securing graduate-level employment.

Bev Herring, Head of Careers and Employability at Aberystwyth University, expressed pride in the award, stating, “It was a great privilege to accept the AGCAS Excellence Award for ‘Building Effective Partnerships’. This award showcases our commitment to innovative, inclusive, and collaborative approaches to enhancing student employability.”

Herring credited the success to the collaborative efforts, particularly acknowledging Lewis Richards, Careers Readiness Support Manager, who spearheaded the e-Hub initiative. She also thanked Welsh university partners and HEFCW (now Medyr) for their support.

The e-Hub stands out for its comprehensive support system, fostering an inclusive environment that significantly enhances employability prospects for underrepresented groups. The judges emphasized the commendable scale of collaboration and the innovative use of digital tools in the initiative.

The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS), an expert membership organization for higher education career development professionals, recognized the e-Hub’s impact. AGCAS, with around 5,000 members and affiliates from 165 higher education institutions, praised the initiative for its digital innovation and collaborative reach.

The Employability e-Hub not only exemplifies Aberystwyth University’s commitment to leveraging digital advancements but also sets a benchmark for how universities can collaboratively enhance student career prospects through innovative solutions.
