UNAND KKN students launched an educational initiative at SMPN 29 Solok Selatan, focusing on the dangers of drug abuse and juvenile delinquency. Led by law students Rizky Novariandi Ramdan and Ijla Sakira, the program aims to raise awareness and reduce drug use among teenagers in Solok Selatan.
goodnewsfromstudent.com – In a bid to empower the local community, 2024 Community Service Program (KKN) students from Andalas University (UNAND) have launched an initiative in Nagari Lubuk Gadang Timur, Sangir District, Solok Selatan Regency. Their focus: educating students of SMPN 29 Solok Selatan on the dangers of drug abuse and juvenile delinquency.
Led by Rizky Novariandi Ramdan and Ijla Sakira, both law students at UNAND, and under the guidance of their field supervisor, Dr. Ir. Yuliaty Shafan Nur, MS, the program has been met with enthusiasm by the school’s students and faculty.
Rizky Novariandi Ramdan explained that the initiative was driven by the rising cases of drug abuse and juvenile delinquency in Indonesia, including in Aceh.
“The rampant drug abuse in Indonesia is a moral burden that needs to be addressed,” Rizky stated.
Ijla Sakira highlighted that the primary goal of the program is to increase students’ knowledge and awareness about the dangers of narcotics and the negative impacts of juvenile delinquency.
“We want students to be more aware of the risks they face and how to avoid them,” she said.
The program received approval from local authorities in Nagari Lubuk Gadang Timur, the field supervisor, and the principal of SMPN 29 Solok Selatan. During the sessions, KKN students introduced various illegal substances such as narcotics, methamphetamine, cigarettes, and marijuana, emphasizing their dangers.
They hope that better understanding will help reduce drug use among teenagers, particularly in Solok Selatan.
“This outreach is crucial because we see many young people today being influenced by bad social environments. We hope this activity will have a positive impact in the future,” Rizky concluded.
Through this initiative, UNAND KKN students aim not only to impart knowledge but also to instill awareness in the younger generation about the importance of protecting themselves from negative influences that can jeopardize their future. This program is expected to be the first step towards creating a safer and healthier environment for teenagers in Solok Selatan.
