goodnewsfromstudent.com – In an effort to integrate sustainability into campus life, the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) distributed 700 eco-friendly refillable water bottles (tumblers) to its new undergraduate students of the 2024 cohort. This initiative, part of the faculty’s broader commitment to environmental sustainability, aims to reduce plastic waste on campus.

The symbolic handover of the tumblers was carried out by the Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, M.Com., C.A., to three students during the Socialization and Initiation of Economics and Business Students (SIMFONI) event at the FEB UGM Plaza on Wednesday, July 31. Prof. Didi emphasized that this effort encourages students, faculty, and staff to support waste reduction, particularly plastic bottles, both on campus and in their daily lives.

“FEB UGM is committed to sustainability and actively participates in reducing plastic waste on campus,” he stated.

Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, further highlighted that the distribution aligns with FEB UGM’s mission to develop future leaders in economics and business with a strong awareness of sustainability.

The campaign, with the tagline “Tumbler is Better,” aims to instill a sense of environmental responsibility in students. “Distributing these tumblers is also a way to internalize FEB UGM’s mission among new students, guiding their behavior and actions as new members of the faculty,” Bayu explained.

The initiative was well-received by the new students. Nisa Maharani, a first-year accounting student, expressed her happiness and pride in receiving a tumbler. She believes it will encourage students to support FEB UGM’s environmental sustainability mission.
