goodnewsfromstudent.com – In a bid to enhance community welfare and support the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the 71st group of students from Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta’s Community Empowerment Service Program (KKN-PPM) for the academic year 2023/2024 has launched an innovative initiative. On Friday, August 2, 2024, they introduced instant ginger drink products as part of their community empowerment program in Dukuh Banombo B, Pucanganom, Rongkop, Gunungkidul, D.I.Y.
Bimaram SMEs, known for their ginger candy and roasted peanuts, have faced increasing market competition and diverse consumer demands. Recognizing the importance of innovation, the KKN-PPM 71 students responded with concrete steps by providing training and developing new products aimed at boosting the competitiveness and diversifying the local business.
As part of this initiative, the KKN-PPM 71 students conducted intensive training for Bimaram SME entrepreneurs on the production of instant ginger drinks. The training began with an understanding of the benefits of ginger, followed by a demonstration of the practical and efficient process of making instant ginger drinks. Using simple ingredients like ginger and sugar, the SMEs can easily produce this drink at home.

One of the trainees, Mrs. Waniyem, expressed her hopes, “We hope this collaboration can inspire SMEs to keep innovating and improving the quality of their products. We also hope that this initiative will be a good start for making our local products competitive in the global market.”
This innovation program focuses not only on improving product quality but also on community empowerment. The KKN-PPM 71 students hope that through this support and innovation, Bimaram’s instant ginger drink can become a new flagship product, complementing the existing ginger candy and roasted peanuts.
Through collaboration and innovation, this activity is expected to have a lasting positive impact on Bimaram SMEs and support local economic growth in Dukuh Banombo B. The KKN-PPM 71 students’ initiative demonstrates their commitment to community empowerment and the development of local products.
