UNRI students, in collaboration with Enok Police, held an educational program at SMA Negeri 1 Enok to raise awareness about online gambling, loans, and teen delinquency. The initiative, supported by various community stakeholders, aims to enhance students’ financial literacy and resilience against these issues.

goodnewsfromstudent.com – In an innovative and collaborative effort to address pressing social issues, students from Universitas Riau (UNRI) have launched an educational program aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of online gambling and loans, as well as overall teen delinquency. This initiative took place at SMA Negeri 1 Enok in partnership with local authorities, including the Enok Police Department, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

This educational session, targeting the senior class of about 100-200 students, featured key speakers such as Enok Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Agus Tito Tampubolon, SH., and UNRI student, Faddli Setiawan, who focused on financial literacy.

The primary goal of this session was to enhance the mental and spiritual resilience of students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the challenges posed by online gambling and loans. The program also emphasized the importance of sound financial management to prevent students from falling into these traps.

Faddli Setiawan, the coordinator of the 2024 UNRI community service program, highlighted the critical nature of these issues. “We aim to protect the younger generation from the pitfalls of online gambling and loans, which often lead to broader delinquency,” he stated.

Agus Tito further elaborated on the severe social repercussions of online gambling. “Individuals who fall into the cycle of online loans and are unable to repay them often face immense social pressure, sometimes resulting in tragic outcomes like suicide,” he explained.

The event garnered substantial support from various community stakeholders, including the Enok Police Department, local women’s groups (PKK), and the principal of SMA Negeri 1 Enok. This collective backing underscores the importance of cross-institutional collaboration in tackling social challenges among youth.

To reinforce their message, UNRI students presented a series of dramatized videos illustrating the dangers of online gambling, loans, and teen delinquency. These visual aids proved to be a highly effective educational tool, capturing the students’ attention and driving home the critical messages.
