goodnewsfromstudent.com – Universitas Indonesia (UI) once again demonstrated its excellence on the international stage. Students from the Faculty of Pharmacy (FF) UI successfully garnered several prestigious awards at the Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium (APPS) 2024, organized by the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) Asia Pacific Regional Office (APRO) in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from June 30 to July 7, 2024.

This remarkable achievement was initiated by Laurentius Rex and Abendanon Dooradi, who won 1st Runner Up in the Clinical Skills Event (CSE) category. Laurentius, who is still in his 4th semester, expressed the challenges they faced.

“The CSE competition was quite difficult because there was a lot of material we hadn’t learned, and most of our competitors were senior students,” he said.

Abendanon added that their strategy of selecting questions with the highest points in the final round was the key to their success.

CSE is a competition that tests medical knowledge and skills in patient assessment and treatment, a crucial aspect of pharmaceutical practice.

In addition, another team from FF UI, consisting of Hosea Imanuel, Fika Aditya Syabani, An Nisaa Renanda Prananto, and Nafisa Thahira, also achieved success by becoming the 2nd Runner Up in the Industrial Skills Event (ISE) category. Hosea explained that their preparation was very intensive.

“We conducted literature studies covering drug efficacy and safety as well as disease prevalence, focusing not only on innovation but also on the relevance and real impact of the solutions we proposed,” he said.

ISE is a competition designed to enhance the industrial skills of pharmacy students, focusing on production and marketing. This competition encourages participants to showcase their potential and develop creative problem-solving skills.

Additionally, BEM FF UI received the 2nd Best Member Organization Award, while Kiranadinda Sakinah was honored with the Member Recognition Award for her outstanding performance among 150,000 other IPSF APRO members.

Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy UI, Prof. Dr. apt. Arry Yanuar, M.Si., expressed his pride in this achievement.

“I am proud of the spirit of FF UI students to continue achieving on both national and international stages. May the spirit of FF UI students never fade in bringing the great name of UI and showing the world that UI students have a good competitive spirit and a desire to keep developing themselves,” said Prof. Arry.

APPS 2024 was attended by more than 250 students from various countries in the Asia-Pacific region, such as Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, and others. This event not only served as a competition platform but also strengthened good relations among pharmacy students from different countries and promoted the professional role of pharmacists at the international level.
